Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a part of Chinese Medicine which is a complete system of holistic healthcare. In Chinese Medicine, pain and illness, whether physical or mental, is a sign that the body is out of balance. The aim of treatment is therefore to bring about equilibrium in body, mind and spirit.
Central to Chinese Medicine is the concept of 'Qi' (pronounced 'chee') which is the body's vital energy. When Qi is flowing freely one has a sense of well-being, physically, mentally and emotionally. When Qi gets blocked or obstructed discomfort, pain, or illness occurs and one may feel out of balance emotionally or mentally. Qi gets blocked for many different reasons such as emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, exposure to weather, infection, or injury. Treatment is aimed at finding the root cause of the imbalance and re-establishing the flow of Qi.
Many people come to acupuncture for help with particular symptoms or to relieve specific pains like osteoarthritis of the knee. Some use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but have no obvious diagnosis. Others choose acupuncture simply to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages including babies and children. It can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine.
Acupuncture uses very fine needles placed in specific points on the body to restore the free flow of Qi and thereby trigger the body's natural healing response. The treatment is painless although some people feel a pleasant tingling, pulling or warm sensation around the needles. In addition to needles, an acupuncturist may also use moxa, massage, or cupping and give advice on diet and lifestyle. Most people find acupuncture a relaxing and pleasant experience.

Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a primary health care profession that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions of a biomechanical nature. This means problems that arise from the joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons of the body, but in particular the spine.
Chiropractic is a manual therapy which consists of specific manipulations, or adjustments, to the joints of the spine as well as other joints of the body. Soft tissue techniques such as massage, cross friction and trigger point therapy can also be used.
If needed specific exercises to either stretch or strengthen joints, ligaments or muscles can be recommended. These will be individually tailored to suit each individual patient's abilities and goals.
Chiropractic does not involve the use of drugs or surgery in it's treatment but instead improves the normal function of the body natrually. It relieves tension and irritation of nerves, muscles and joints which in turn reduces muscle spasm and pain.

Cranio Sacral Therapy
Cranio Sacral Therapy is a very gentle non invasive subtle and profound form of healing. Developed from the work of an American osteopath Dr William Sutherland in the early 1900s. He discovered intrinsic movements of the bones of the head and his further research revealed different rhythms in the body.
It senses distortions, congestion and imbalances within the body, going as far back as birth. Symptoms can be released and gradually elimination of underlying causes. CST has developed from clinical experiences, which show that health is something active and not just an absence of disease. Treatment is usually given while lying on a comfortable couch, fully clothed. The therapist after first asking permission will make contact by placing their hands very lightly on the clients body. The first thing you will probably notice is a sense of deep relaxation, which will generally last throughout the session. This release of tension often extends into everyday life. Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious on returning to a familiar environment. The work can often be deeply moving and exhilarating.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a system of medicine that can be used in acute and chronic illness for physical, mental and emotional problems, and also in first aid situations. The homeopathic remedies, which are given in the form of pills, liquid or topical cream, act as a catalyst to stimulate the body, or what we call the vital force, to rebalance and heal itself. Homeopathic remedies are safe to use in all stages of life, from pregnancy and childbirth, in babies and children through to adulthood.
Homeopathic remedies are used to treat conditions from physical complaints such as asthma, eczema and sleep loss to emotional conditions like grief and depression. Homeopaths do not treat disease as such, they treat people rather than the condition they are suffering from. We tend to find that people tend to present with patterns and cycles of illness and habits that repeat themselves in different ways and we use the homeopathic remedies to help correct and reset these patterns.
Treatment can range from one consultation with just one remedy, to a series of remedies and consultations for deeper-rooted conditions. Typically, it would be usual to attend for three consultations over a period spanning 3 - 6 months, really depending on the nature of the complaint.
Homeopathic remedies are never tested on animals (although they can be used to treat animals). Equally, the remedies are never tested on sick people; the effects of the remedies are elicited from healthy people who participate in what are known as homeopathic "provings".

The therapist uses this state to make suggestions directly to the client's subconscious mind to effect beneficial, therapeutic change.

Laser Teeth Whitening
For humans, teeth are not only functional, but also have aesthetic value. To provide this aesthetic value to the maximum, they need to be as white as possible. Teeth should not have any other colour. Just as there are many causes of teeth discolouration, there are as many methods of whitening them. However, the benefits of laser teeth whitening far out weigh all other methods. The key advantages being that it is quick, safe and causes no sensitivity.
Laser technology is the latest technology to enter the teeth whitening market. Newer technologies tend to be faster than their predecessors and this technology is no different. While in the past a person would need more than one visit to a whitening specialist to get a complete service, by using laser, this visits are reduced.
In fact, in most of the cases, a 1 hour service is all it takes. Furthermore, while most other methods will whiten your teeth for about 6 months, laser teeth bleaching lasts for as long as 2 years.
This method is very safe. Most people only know of laser beams that cut metals. However, laser teeth whitening uses laser light to enhance penetration of the bleaching agent which is applied on teeth. | |
